Reekado Banks Biography

Reekado Banks whose real name is Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon is a Nigerian recording artist, singer and songwriter. He was born on 6 December 1993  and currently signed to Mavin Records. He started his career with the stage name Spicy, prior to his deal with Mavins record. Reekado Banks is the last in his family, a music loving family. While his father is a Pastor, the mother is a caterer. He started recording songs in 2008, after finishing from secondary school at age 14. He studied History and Strategic Study from the University of Lagos, where he graduated in 2014.
  

His producer elder brother produced his songs at the time and schooled him, on the rudiments of singing, producing and song writing. He derived his stage name Reekado Banks from combining Reekado, which means a 'strong ruler' and Banks which translates loosely to 'wealth'. His deal with Mavins record was championed by his elder brother who submitted some of his songs for Mavins record online talent search. He was chosen amidst over 5000 entries. In an interview with National Mirror, Reekado Banks claimed his brother submitted his songs without his consents.   

Ever since his joining Mavins, Reekado Banks career has met a huge success as he has released quite a good number of hits to keep his fans going. Reekado Banks' 'Katapot' which could be said to be his most successful release so far was at some point  rumoured to be a diss song for D'Banj and Wande Coal. Though he and his Boss debunked this.   Reekado Banks' Reekadite connect which was held in December 2015 was a huge success. 

He was declared the Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014 and won the controversial Next Rated at the Headies 2015. He also won City People Awards 2015 Most promising act to watch. His video Katapot won Headies 2015 video of the year. Reekado Banks has an endorsement deal with Globacom. His song,  'Oluwa ni' released early 2016 was evidently his celebrating success within such a short while of being in the music industry. And he recently released his debut album, 'Spotlight'.
