Nigerian Celebrities in diaspora: Caroline Chikezie


Caroline Chikezie best known for her role as Sasha Williams in the movie, “As if’ is a UK actress who also hit success in the US movie industry. She is a Nigerian of Igbo origin. She played a lead role in the Nollywood film, ‘Inale’, where she acted along side Ini Edo, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Dede Mabiaku, Keppy Ekpenyong and singer Omawunmi.

Caroline was born in England to Nigerian parents on 19 February 1974. She was sent to a boarding school in Nigeria when she was fourteen in an attempt to make her abandon her dreams to become an actress. She returned to UK afterwards, where she studied Medical Chemistry at Brunel University. She was meant to take over her father’s hospital in Nigeria but she left when her lecturers decided she was unsuited for academic life. She later went to the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts on a scholarship.

She landed herself, her first major role as bitchy Sasha Williams in ‘As if’in 2001, after she had played roles in ‘Holby City’; ‘Casualty’ and the award winning British film, ’Babymother’. Caroline whose acting career began in 1998 has acted and featured in several television series and films including, ‘Eragon’, ‘Take 3 Girls’, ‘Torchwood’, ‘Casualty’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office’, ‘Aeon Flux’, the Nollywood, ‘Inale’ and whole lot of others.

Her featuring in the movie, ‘Inale, directed by Jeta Amata is regarded as big thumbs-up to Nollywood. Caroline was also applauded for taking up the role as it helped in boosting local content.
